How to Care for Your Wig
Keep your Loving Strands wig looking beautiful, soft, and natural.
Daily Care: What to Do After Each Wear
- Store it safely: Use a wig stand or mannequin head to help maintain the shape
- Avoid heat or moisture: Don’t leave it in hot cars or bathrooms
- Detangle gently: Use a wide-tooth comb or loop brush, starting at the ends
- Avoid product buildup: Skip heavy styling sprays, gels, or dry shampoos not formulated for wigs
- Protect the lace: Avoid tugging at the front hairline when removing
Pro tip: For hat wigs, hang them by the cap (not the hair) when not in use.
Weekly to Monthly Maintenance
How often you wash your wig depends on how often you wear it. For daily wear, washing every 2–3 weeks is ideal. Occasional wearers can go longer between cleans.
How to Wash Your Wig
1
Prep
Detangle the wig gently while dry.
2
Wet
Use cool or lukewarm water — not hot.
3
Shampoo
Use sulfate-free, wig-safe shampoo. Lather gently without rubbing.
4
Rinse
Let the water flow in the direction of the hair (top to ends).
5
Condition
Apply to mid-length and ends — never the roots or knots.
6
Rinse Again
Rinse again and gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring).
7
Dry
Pat with a towel and air-dry on a stand. Avoid blow-drying unless instructed.
